Holtby starts training ride of week

Another Monday and only one more to go before the big ride starts on
July 7th.
Just a short route this morning. More stories to record at lunchtime.
This is Holtby to the east of York. It’s very quiet this morning. Even my
bike seems to intrude into the peace.

There will be an update about the Palestinian students later.

Home for dinner

I resisted the temptation to ride too far – despite the sunshine. Tonight’s training was 21.6 miles.

I’ve been looking at the maps to take note of the route of the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway, but see I need the Yorkshire Dales Western Area map too. I bought a specialist map of the route from Harvey’s. It’s not too impressive. The route of the cycleway is marked on the OS Outdoor Leisure maps so I’ll probably use those on my ride.

I’ve booked a B&B in Hawes for the overnight stay all I need now is a praking place in Grassington.

It’s possible I’ll have earned a short break from cycling by the time
this one comes around. Sponsor me for the 7/8th July. See www.help.co.uk/ridingbike

Storytelling is over for another week and I’m snatching a few miles
before dinner. It’s a fabulous evening and I’ll be tempted to go too
far. We’ll see.

Online ads to overtake TV in UK

Online ads to overtake TV

The internet will overtake TV as the biggest advertising platform in the UK this year with total ad spend of around £3.56bn, according to a report by Enders Analysis.

But does this mean it’s more effective? I think I would still rather have 30 seconds on peak time TV than the equivalent cost on t’internet. I confess I have no idea if I know what that would mean in web exposure, but TV still feels like you’re in lots of living rooms where it matters more than being on the “lean forwards” screen..
